Background Check Policy

Before beginning employment, individuals must have a BCI background check sent to Ellis Michael Healthcare Services. This background check costs ~$40 and can be done at most BMVs. Once employees send for the background check, they must send a copy of their receipt from the BMV to payroll@emhcs.com attention Ellis Michael HCS. Upon receiving results: if clear, employees are reimbursed on their first paycheck. If disqualifying offenses are found, the applicant is solely responsible for BCI check costs. If applicant fails to complete the hiring process, applicant is solely responsible for BCI cost.

The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities maintains an Abuser Registry listing employees determined to have abused, neglected, had prohibited sexual relations with, stolen property from, or failed to report abuse/neglect of an individual with developmental disabilities. If your name is placed on the Abuser Registry, you are barred from DD employment for a minimum of 1 year. Offenses include physical abuse, sexual abuse/misconduct, verbal abuse, neglect, misappropriation (theft of $100+), and failure to report.
